Cataract Falls, where two sets of falls on Mill Creek create a cascade that drops 86 feet, is the largest waterfall in Indiana. The upper falls has a sheer plunge of 20 feet; the lower falls - about a half a mile downstream - has a fall of some 18 feet.

Cataract Falls is in Lieber State Recreation Area. This is the largest waterfall in Indiana by volume. Higher waterfalls can be found in Clifty Falls State Park and elsewhere, but Mill Creek is larger than some rivers I have seen.

The small parking area for the Cataract Falls trail was already full when we arrived, so we had to continue on up the road until we found a suitably large pullout. There are several pullouts, so you'll be able to find one -- but it means more uphill after the end of your hike.
