My sister had bad nosebleeds when she was younger and they've slowed down now that shes 14 and she gets them every 4 months or so so yours might do the same. But I'd encourage you to go to a doctor- you dont have to cauterize if you dont want to- its not like they'll make you do it or anything.

Got to the ER, the doctor explained they were going to cauterize my nose. Not nearly as thrilling as it sounds, it's essentially a Q-tip being stuck up your nose and the substance on the end being rubbed on the affected area, toughening up the tissue.

Your doctor will try to find out where the bleeding is coming from in your nose. He or she will probably ask you some questions and examine your nose. If the bleeding doesn't stop on its own or when pressure is applied, your doctor may cauterize the bleeding vessel or pack your nose to stop the bleeding.

Nosebleeds are inconvenient but cauterizing can cause lasting damage! ... I had a lot of nosebleeds when I was a kid. For kids, this can happen for various reasons - dry weather, an injury, nose-picking, allergies. My nose would start bleeding out of no where - at school, during a soccer game, while watching television.

Cauterize redirects here. For the band, see Cauterize (band) ... If a person has been having frequent nose bleeds, it is most likely caused by an exposed blood vessel in their nose. Even if the nose is not bleeding at the time, it is cauterized to prevent future bleeding.

WHAT IS CAUTERIZATION FOR NOSE BLEED? This is a procedure to stop persistent bleeding from a small vein or artery, usually in the front of the nose. An electrocautery needle or silver nitrate (a caustic agent), when applied to the bleeding point, burns the tissue slightly to seal the blood vessel.

Yes, I would defintely go see an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist (Otolaryngologist). He or she can hopefully find the exact spot in your nostril that has been bleeding, and cauterize it.

Do not cauterize or use instruments within the nose before providing adequate topical anesthesia (some initial blind suctioning may, however, be required to clear the nose of clots before instilling anesthetics).

So, after about a year after cauterization, nosebleeds are just as bad as they were before, if not worse. I went in for cauterization at least four times at periodical intervals during my teenage years. The big problem with cauterization is that you can only cauterize your nose a certain number of times.
