A thread in the PlantFiles Pictures forum, titled Kapok, Cotton Tree (Ceiba pentandra) ... In El Salvador, one can break off a shoot from a tree, stick it in the soil, water it, and it will grow. I've done this several times. The ceiba is a hardy tree.
