In the 1970's a New York Social Studies teacher, Joseph Zarzynski, took an interest in the Champ sightings and formed the Lake Champlain Phenomena Investigation. Zarzynski and his group organized observations of the lake, and explorations with sonar and even a small robotic submarine.
