A lens is an optical device with perfect or approximate axial symmetry which transmits and refracts light, converging or diverging the beam. A simple lens is a lens consisting of a single optical el...

Chromatic aberration in photographic lenses. Longitudinal and transverse chromatic aberration. Purple fringing, green fringing, and achromatic correction. ... This seems counterintuitive, but in a lens corrected for longitudinal chromatic aberration the principal planes do not need to coincide for all colors.

Chromatic Aberration in a Single Lens ... Chromatic aberration or "color fringing" is caused by the camera lens not focusing different wavelengths of light onto the exact same focal plane (the focal length for different wavelengths is different) and/or by the lens magnifying different wavelengths differently.

for one, it isn't Chromatic Aberration ... so that tool doesn't work; And the color blur doesn't do enough; I'm going to go out today and do some more shooting with this lens. The only time I can see this being a problem is like in the image above (with trees).

Two of these aberrations have to do with the properties of glass, and can be understood in terms of first-order or Gaussian optics. These are the two forms of chromatic aberration. Unfortunately for lens designers, glasses do not slow down all forms of light by the same amount.

The chromatic aberration correction lens corrects a chromatic aberration occurring due to a change in the wavelength and/or due to an increase in a wavelength bandwidth of the light.

Chromatic aberration is a common defect caused by the failure of the lens to focus different colors to the same spot. In one type of chromatic aberration, the image from each color of light is in focus, but each image is a slightly different size.
