AT&T Mobility was known as Cingular until 2007. Cingular was formed by the merger of BellSouth Wireless and SBC Wireless in 2001. Cingular then acquired AT&T Wireless in 2004. Cingular's parent companies SBC and BellSouth then merged with each other, and with AT&T (not AT&T Wireless).
