Essentially, what allows a proxy site to circumvent Websense is the way that the site looks up web pages. By conducting what is called an HTTPS search, the proxy site is accessing through a secure server. Websense does not tend to block secure sites.

Sometimes I have to go through a Websense filter to access the web. I am an occasional (ok, more than occasional) slashdot reader, and quite often they feature security-related stories. ... The site was reviewed (or submitted to Websense for review, whatever that means) and I heard nothing more. Now I simply go to Google!

The college I attend uses Websense and it blocks stuff I would like to access. It also blocks every proxy website I’ve tried. Anyone know a way around it, I’m sure it’s not that hard but I’m not really a hacker.

I am able to nipple my way around websense but there must be someway to circumvent the websense too increase my options. Websense blocks most proxy servers so I'm thinking of some way to connect through my home computer to gain access.
