The house centipede, believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region, was introduced into Mexico and the Southern United States and has increased its distribution. It was first recorded in Pennsylvania in 1849. Today, the house centipede can be found in many buildings throughout the United States.

I live in south central WI., & being in an older home we get quite a few house centipedes that wander into the living room, or kitchen from our damp basement. I have twin daughters that are 6, & ... Does the common house centipede have the capability of biting? If so, is there any danger from the bite? Thanks for the help!
