Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. What is the concept of walimah (wedding feast) in Islam? Shouldn’t it be held after the consummation of marriage? Is it obligatory for the groom to pay for it? Can the bride also share the expenses? ... Whether it is given before or after marriage consummation, the Sunnah is fulfilled.
