Short biography of a Spanish conqueror. As a result of their quandary, the Aztecs offered little resistance, and Cortes quickly defeated their army. On November 18, 1519, Cortes entered the Aztec capital and imprisoned Montezuma.

Soon after Cortez established headquarters in the capital, he learned that the Aztecs had plundered Veracruz. He seized Montezuma and forced him to surrender the attackers. Then he had them executed.
