Can someone describe to me how to frame the gable end wall under a structual ridge beam of a vaulted ceiling. I will be installing a DV fire place in this wall directly under the ridge.

I was thinking about taking an attic gable vent with a fan, and creating some sort of insulated shutters that I can keep closed during cold weather, and then open them in hot weather to vent out the space, but if that's not necessary, I'd rather just put in windows that open up there. ... Having the roof decking on one side of the rafters and the the ceiling on the other is the simplest, cheapest and direct way of creating a vaulted ceiling and it gives maximum height.
