Now there are two separate nuclei, but they are in the same cell. The cell now needs to be split in half. Cytokenesis begins in anaphase and continues ... Furrowing tends to take place at right angles to the axis of the spindle (so that each nucleus is placed in a different cell of course!). ... [ Top ] [ Discuss this topic ]

Mitosis is a process of nuclear division in which the duplicated chromosomes separate to form two genetically identical daughter nuclei. During Prophase, the nuclear membrane disintegrates ... Telophase is followed by cytokinesis, during which a cleavage furrow forms in the center of the cell, and the cell divides.

Mitosis is nuclear division plus cytokinesis, and produces two identical daughter cells during prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Interphase is often included in discussions of mitosis, but interphase is technically not part of mitosis, but rather encompasses stages G1, S, and G2 of the cell cycle.

The daughter cells are identical to one another and to ... The cytoplasm divides, the cell membrane pinches inward ultimately producing two daughter cells (phase: Cytokinesis).

The separation of daughter cells from each other is a process known as cytokinesis, and is separate from mitosis. In cytokinesis, animal and plant cells differ considerably from each other. These differences are the consequence of having or not having a cell wall.
