Methods for Cutting Dadoes: There are a few different methods for cutting a dado. Probably the most common method is to use a stacked dado head cutter on a table saw. This consists of two 8" diameter, 1/8"-kerf saw blades with a number of 1/8" & 1/16" chippers in between.

it's not worth it to use dado cutters, unless you're cutting them with the grain. I rarely use a dado cutter for any cross grain cuts. My suggestion to you - since you said they're illegal.... is to set yourself up with a nice router table and a good router.

You'll need 3/4" wide dadoes cut on the ends of the top shelf and sides of the magazine holder. Set up for this with a dado cutter at the table saw as shown in photo 8. Screw a wood cover to the face of your fence as shown, install the dado cutter, then lower the cutter below the table.

anyone know where I can get hold of one of those (I think Norm Abraham calls it a Dado head cutter) cutters ? how much they cost and what you need at the business end (HP or wattage) to make an average cut jus' like norm ... ; For what it's worth Sheppach now sell a "Grooving cutter" for their 2500 and 4010 saws.
