It's a shrub by nature, tree shape is acheived by grafting onto stem of another kind of willow. All dappled willow same clone. ... Next January I'll prune it down 1/3 as recommended above. Perhaps there will still be a spot in the creeklets to put the cuttings; this is a lovely bush!

Dappled Willow will thrive in moist soils, but will tolerate drier conditions once established better than many other willows. Will also do fine if soil is occasionally wet. Do not overwater, and do not let dry out between waterings for best health.

There is not a separate tree form versus the bush form. You simply train your bush into a tree form. Very easy. Pick out a central leader and cut, cut, cut. Below is a pic of one of my "trees." It's hit or miss on the rooting.
