SRAM(Static Random Assessable Memory)- where the word static indicates that it, does not need to be periodically refreshed, as SRAM uses bistable latching circuitry (i.e., flip-flops ) to store each bit. Each bit is stored as a voltage.Each...

The RAM family includes two important memory devices: static RAM (SRAM) and dynamic RAM (DRAM). The primary difference between them is the lifetime of the data they store. SRAM retains its contents as long as electrical power is applied to the chip.

I know that SRAM has the cross-coupled inverters, that has the positive feedback so as BL goes higher, BL_bar goes lower. I also know that DRAM is only one transistor, and the reduction in the pre-charged BL value is due to charge sharing between C_BL and C_S (the capacitors).

In terms of RAM's (Random Access Memories), there are two basic types, SRAM's and DRAM's. RDRAM's and SDRAM's are types of DRAM's. SRAM's store bits (1's or 0's) in memory cells that are basically flip flops.

For all current DRAM chips, this latency period is somewhere between 40 and 60 nanoseconds (ns)--this includes SDRAM. The difference between SDRAM and conventional asynchronous DRAM technologies such as FPM or EDO is in how subsequent read operations (after the first one) are handled.

I know my computer uses DRAM (dynamic RAM) for the main memory. I have also heard of static RAM. What is the difference, and why are there two kinds? ... Your computer probably uses both static RAM and dynamic RAM at the same time, but it uses them for different reasons because of the cost difference between the two types.

SRAM (static random-access memory) The difference between SRAM and DRAM is that where DRAM must be refreshed constantly, SRAM stores data without an automatic refresh. The only time a refresh occurs, in fact, is when a write command is performed.

Quite often, people know the main differences between an Athlon and a PIII, or between the GeForce and the ATI Rage. When it comes to RAM, however, most people would be stumped if you asked them to explain the difference between CAS 2 and CAS 3. ... Part I will cover SRAM and asynchronous DRAM, while later parts will tackle...
