A personal opinion I've come to just from reading all these letters is that you may or may not be happy with rhodium plating on a white gold ring but will almost surely be unhappy with it on a yellow gold ring...

What is "getting your ring dipped"? I've never heard of this? I have a white gold e-ring and grant it, it is not as shiny as when I first got it but it doesn't look like a yellow gold ring? Can someone fill me in on this ring dipping thing?

Your ring is probably 14KT yellow gold that was dipped in rhodium. It will always turn yellow even if you keep re-dipping it. Although there is no such thing as white gold, there is a mixture that they use to make white gold.
