I have had a Direct Merchants Bank Master Card for three years. I never had a late payment, or was over my limit. Recently I was part of a job layoff, at which time I contacted Merchants Bank to let them know that I was unemployed.

Last year I got a Direct Merchants Bank Credit Card and learned recently that they merged with HSBC (Better known as Household Bank). This is now also a credit card you want to avoid. Since they took over Direct Merchants Bank I have had nothing but problems with accessing my account in order to pay my monthly balance.

I recently got gas and presented my Direct Merchants Bank card for payment. It was declined. I called DMB and was told the card had been cancelled due to non use. I asked the rep why I had not been warned that this would happen if I did not use the card and why I was not notified when the account was cancelled.
