The rate of fade is variable with the type of dye , the material that it is on, the factors effecting it, such as sun, water, chemicals and etc. Use all the same brand of construction paper, purchased at the same time and use sun and shade....

I'm not sure but I think that you put dye on three seperate sheets of paper and then put a drop of water on each of them and then you see how fast the color recedes. Hope it helps, and I'm really sorry if I'm wrong, which I very well could ...
