Thank you for your response but I did not need a whole disertation, I need a quick/direct answer to my question, which is do trout have scales, yes or now....thank you, Mindy ; Answer; Then the answer would be yes they do have scales, and according to the site i gave you, they are also Kosher(biblically clean).

Rainbow trout have very small, fine scales on their torpedo-shaped body. They have silvery sides with a horizontal pinkish band that varies in intensity in different populations. The back is bluish to greenish with black spots on the back and sides.

is there anything i can do to trout + salmon so i don,t lose alot of scales during my skining and fleshing process ? i do all right on warm water fish , but always have problems with cold water fish.

1)I constantly have a problem of patches with and without scales. When painted/glossed, the two areas GLARE with a different texture. Should I scrub off ALL scales....or what? I try to be careful when skinning, but(especially on coho and steelhead) I still lose patches of scales.
