I have had 2 fibroadenomas removed when I was in my 20's. I also found a new lump and had it checked by a surgeon who feels it is just another fibroadenoma. But the only way to tell for sure is to biopsy. If left alone a fibroadenoma will not turn into cancer...its just bothersome knowing its in there.

Although benign lumps rarely, if ever, turn into cancer, cancerous lumps can develop near benign lumps and can be hidden on a mammogram. Even if you have had a benign lump removed in the past, you cannot be sure any new lump is also benign.
