You don't need to format cdrw's to use them with Easy CD creator. They only need to be formatted if you want to use Direct CD.

I lost BOTH the CD-RW backup media (the one I was forced to "erase" and start over...but it errored out) AND I lost a brand, new media I was trying to format---which also errored out. Finally, I went back to an older, previously formatted CD-RW media, and stuck it in. ... but people need some practice ... and a little...

The manufacturer recommends using CD-RW's so that the files can be backed up nightly (multiple writes to the same CD-RW media )and then a new CD-RW disk inserted at the end of the week. The question is: does the new CD-RW disk need to be 'formatted' before it inserted into the zip drive?
