The brainchild of two edgy graphic designers from Baltimore, Double Dagger is a hardcore punk/art-rock trio formed in 2002. Vocalist Nolen Strals and bassist Bruce Willen had previously played together in League of Death and re-formed with drummer Brian Dubin just after the group's final show with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Double Dagger formed in late 2002 from the ashes of two of Baltimore's most unpredictable live bands: Charm City Suicides and League of Death. Lacking a guitarist, Double Dagger began to build short, spare punk rock around the catchy, multi-tasking bass guitar of Bruce Willen and energetic drumming of Brian Dubin.
