TS Troubleshooting Driver is enabled but not started Audio and Video ... dugawug: I have been the past two weeks w/o sound and the same driver enabled.... not started... bs. I have an HP Pavilion a604x w/ Realtek AC97 on-board audio and Windows XP Home and SP2 messed up my audio big time.

i am using windows xp when i try to play music i get the error code 0xc00d11ba condition id 0x00000000 there is no sound at all coming from my speakers, system or otherwise.they were workin fine before when i check the properties of realtek ac'97 audio it says driver enabled but not started how do i start it?

24-bit, Properties again, Audio Devices, Properties, I see a "Status: Driver is enabled but has not been started." According to other forums, the problem may be the Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator. According to that advice I reinstalled it and it had no affect on the problem.

Also for the future it is worth remembering that often reformatting and a new install ( or Repair Install ) of Windows XP may not solve the original problem. The audio controller is installed correctly; the "Device Manager" reports that the driver status is enabled but that it has not been started.

When I click on properties for my laptop's onboard sound card, device manager initially tells me for that the "device is working properly", but when I go to the card's properties tab and look at multimedia devices, it says that "the driver is enabled but has not been started".
