A day came where I needed to burn an EPROM, but I didn't have access to a regular commerical EPROM burner, so instead of forking over $300, I decided to look around and see how hard it was to make my own. (Luckily, I had access to an EPROM eraser since I was doing PIC programming.)

In times past, I used to build almost all of my own test equipment and technical tools. Most of them are long gone now, replaced by shiny commercial offerings. One item which remains however, and which I still use from time to time is this little EPROM programmer I built around 1986.

Back in 1995 I designed a Mk2 EPROM Programmer, but EA didn't want to publish it. I'm making all of the details available here for those that wish to make it ... The design has fully automatic device ID detection, support for up to 2Mb 32 pin EPROM's. Lower cost than the Mk1 version, and 10 times easier to build.
