Most PET sufferers say that lying down or putting their heads between their knees closes their tubes, unfortunately I seem to be the only one this DOESN'T help - in fact it can make my ears pop. Today my PET has taken another turn for the worse, in that my ... I have learned to swallow in a way to avoid opening the tube up.

My ears were in the same state as yours ... only my symptoms went beyond clogged ears ... they pop every time I swallow, and I have a high-pitched right in both ears ... it all started around April of 2002, which initally led doctors to believe it was allergy related (grass alergies are worse in CA around that time).

These openings are in the 'back' of throat & when you swallow they tug on middle-ear compartment. You have 3. ... Only clear ears to pop them w/ pressure & do it lightly. If you have fluid inflammation in ET's, you're blowing more fluid to trap mid-ear. You set environment up for earache/bacteria from throat.

When it opens you feel a pop. Normally, each time (or each second or third time) you swallow, your ears make a little click or popping sound. This occurs because a small bubble of air has entered your middle ear, up from the back of your nose.
