In regards to the FAQ: Electroplating--How It Works I was curious about the two added solutions as to their purposes. Is the Epson salts intended to neutralize the acid or does it have some other purpose? The sugar really surprised me.

I'm doing a science project where I'm electroplating aluminum with copper with three different voltages and seeing which one electroplates the fastest. But I haven't found a definate solution to use. I read about using copper sulfate [link is to product info at Amazon], but exactly would that solution contain?
