Furthermore, limestone beds of the Green River Formation of Eocene age intertongue with stratigraphically higher parts of both units, suggesting that the 2 units occupy stratigraphically similar positions. The Almy Formation of Schultz near La Barge includes 2 units, one of which is at least partly of late Paleocene age.

The main objectives are to illustrate the overall structure of the Burro Negro fault, an exhumed Eocene age lateral ramp fault exposed along the eastern edge of the Maracaibo basin, by using a compilation of outcrop and subsurface observations compiled from previous workers and regional 2D seismic data.

Included in this fauna is the pecten Pro-peamussium (cf. P. stanfordensis Arnold), of probable Eocene age; the associated foraminiferal fauna is provincially considered to be of late Eocene (Narizian) age, and the fish scales are similar to those found in the Narizian and Refugian (Eocene and Oligocene) of California.

VOLCANIC ROCKS OF MIDDLE EOCENE AGE ... SEDIMENTARY ROCKS OF LATE EOCENE AGE ... Rocks of late Eocene age appear to be restricted to the relatively small area near Point Grenville. Although other rocks along the coast between this area and the Hoh River are similar in appearance, none have produced fossils of late Eocene age;

The age of the onlapping sediments allows us to constrain the crater formation to be Middle Eocene in age. This date is c. 10–15 Ma younger than the previous ascribed age for the crater formation and rules out the Silverpit crater as a K–T boundary impact.
