Existence: the fact of being, the presence of something, the "thisness," "that it is."; Essence: the kind of thing it is, the blueprint, plan, or description, the nature of the thing, "what it is.";

I don't think it is a question in terms of essence precedes existence or vise versa. Since essence only exists in our words and language, ... I don't see how an explanation that requires several leaps of faith in a row is the simplest one. I actually think this is not even starting to explain anything!

In other words, to put it more simply--and here Kevin will have to revisit St. Gregory and the Cappadocians--God the Father's existence precedes the divine essence. Instead of person being constrained by nature, here nature in the Godhead is constrained by Person.
