Polynomial extrapolation is typically done by means of Lagrange interpolation or using Newton's method of finite differences to create a Newton series that fits the data. The resulting polynomial may be used to extrapolate the data.

Interpolation and extrapolation involve using known data in order to determine predict values at other locations. ... Because we are looking for a value 1 unit above a known value, we will add 2.5 to the known value. This results in an answer of 7.5. To extrapolate, you could plot the dataset and find a fit line.

I have a column of data in A running from 1.1 to 16 in 0.1 increments (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, all the way to 16). Next to this column I have a column of data corresponding to each of these points. I am trying to figure out how to extrapolate data from this series in;

HDDs record data by magnetizing ferromagnetic material directionally, to represent either a 0 or a 1 binary digit. They read the data back by detecting the magnetization of the material.

If you click on the the plotted data series, the formula bar will display the range of data plotted. If you extend that range in the formula bar, you can add support x-values to visually extrapolate the trendline beyond the data.

Now you need to plot the data points. Most of us know how to calculate a mean value, but how does one indicate the variation in weight among individuals. ... The curve should be smooth, not a bunch of straight lines that 'connect the dots.' By the way - Never extrapolate experimental data.

Where the proposed use involves an active substance previously approved in another product for the same or similar uses, it may be possible to extrapolate data to the proposed use where there is access to the relevant data.
