False Dichotomies by Joseph Rowlands ... Objectivist literature mentions dichotomies frequently, but usually in a negative sense. The dichotomies mentioned above and many others are false dichotomies. This means that the two categories are either non-exhaustive, or they overlap some.

The rest of the post is devoted to pursuing this false dichotomy. Any policy that does not treat all abortions as the absolute equivalent of murder of a live human being is ridiculed as hypocrisy, and then shown to be (supposedly) a mere effort to punish women.

The bulk of the column discusses some of his decisions in order to debunk the most implausible claims made about them, often skipping the most important arguments (for example, he completely ignores the critical facial challenge issue pending in Ayotte when discussing Casey.) But he engages in a similar false dichotomy.
