The word feldspar literally translates to: feld, meaning field, and spar, meaning "easily cleaved material". It refers to any of several crystalline aluminosilicate minerals found in abundance ... Most feldspars crystallize from a melt in igneous rocks. Their crystals are tabular, flattened and most are complexly twinned.

The feldspar group is a fairly large group with nearly 20 members recognized, but only nine are well known and ... Some feldspars may be triboluminescent. They have two directions of cleavage at nearly right angles. Feldspars also tend to crystallize in igneous enviroments, but are also present in many metamorphic rocks.

Feldspar is the name of a group of rock-forming minerals which make up as much as 60% of the Earth's crust. Feldspars crystallize from magma in both intrusive and extrusive rocks, and they can also occur as compact minerals, as veins, and are also present in many types of metamorphic rock. ... Physical Properties of Rocks: Plasticity, diffusion, and creep ... Microstructures show pronounced cavitation and formation of porosity bands containing redistributed glass, presumably associated with grain boundary sliding and shape-preferred orientation of high-aspect ratio feldspar grains.

Blueschist-facies rocks with jadeite-K-feldspar-lawsonite paragenesis occur as exotic blocks in Miocene debris flows in the blueschist belt of northwest Turkey. The jadeite-K-feldspar rocks have a very fine grain size and although recrystallized locally retain a relict porphyritic volcanic texture.
