The fire eel grows well in the aquarium. These fish are dark grey with red and yellow horizontal stripes extending down the body. The anal, caudal, and dorsal fins are all one continuous fin that are edged in red.

I used to keep an Oscar with a Discus and a Jack Dempsey, but you need at least 75 gallons per fish. ... This fire eel burrows. And will get rather large and likes freeze dried tubifex and frozen bloodworms. I don't want to bring back the eel because he is so likable. He eats out of my hand and seems happy. And he's really neat looking and docile.
