My wife and I just bought a used car five days ago, its a 2000 Mercury Sable. It has 21,000 miles on it and before we would sign the papers we mentioned that the car vibrated at 65 mph and that we wanted that fixed and they agreed.

Sears auto used to true tires. They put tire/rim combo on a machine and grind down the high spots. This might work but I dont remember the cost. What really needs to be done is to fix whats wrong. I ain't changing tires at 4K. I also kicked the pressure up to at least 40 psi to slow the cupping ... However, once a tire is cupped its, really too late to "fix" it with tire pressure. Just monitor the handling of the front end. If you don't feel secure replace the the tire rather than being constantly worried about it.

Cause of cupped tires? 850 1994 ... I don't have this problem with my summer tires and I rotate them every 5000. I didn't even think that snows needed to be rotated, but I guess they do too. Possible areas to look at for the cupping: Look at the simple things first, easiest and cheapest to fix.

You worry about the wheels never aligning properly and your tires always wearing unevenly. You worry about unseen wiring that gets pinched and causes electrical gremlins later on.

It could also possibly be related to cupped tires caused by an alignment issue, or something loose/worn in the front suspension, but I would try a wheel balance first, and while they are at it, have them inspect ... My mistakes (which I will fix tomorrow if its not too late,) is to put some grease on the caliper pins,

about the amount you could hold in your cupped hands. I suspect I know where I picked up the nail, so I think there is the possibility that I could have driven as much as 6 miles on the tire at freeway speeds as it deflated. ...
