Not all of the Flowers were upgraded, in fact some lasted until the end of the war with their short focsles intact. One such is HMCS Chicoutimi, seen here as on the east coast of Canada in 1945.

When their focsles were extended the wood below the break would be removed (if it was in place) and Semtex walkways could be found in their place. These walkways could be in various patterns and weren't necessarily uniform in placement between ships.
