I had the pattern before we moved to where we're at now ( 20 yrs ago ) and made the footstool 2 X's and it was beautiful.

Good job! You now have a pretty footstool with storage. Sew the skirt band to the band strip with footstool top. Allow for a turn of the raw edge before cutting off extra skirting. Slip the skirted footstool covering on your tote and hem last.
