The Abolition of Bridge Tolls (Scotland) Act was passed on 31 May 2007 and the Forth and Tay Road Bridges became free to use on 11 February 2008. The removal of the toll plaza on the Forth Road Bridge was a major project successfully completed by the bridge authority in a very short space of time.
