It's a fair ball because like the bases and the home plate the entire foul pole is in fair territory. A ball is foul when it is outside of the pole. If it nicks it in any spot it's a fair ball. If the ball comes off the bat ... It's called a home run if it hits on the fly, a ground-rule double if it hits on a bounce.

The umpire ruled it a fair ball. Was this the correct ruling ? Answer; Depends on what part of the box. Draw a straight line from the back corner of the plate to the foul pole in Right and Left field and any ball which settles within these lines is considered fair.
