Eukaryotic organisms have two primary cell types --- germ and somatic. Mutations can occur in either cell type. If a gene is altered in a germ cell, the mutation is termed a germinal mutation.

Germ Mutation occurs inside of a blood cell, and has to do with the mutation of a germ or bacteria. Somatic Mutation occurs outside of the cell, and has to do with the mutation of an acid. The diffrence between both is that Germ Mutation occurs inside the cell, and Somatic Mutation occurs outside of the cell.
