Before I had TMJ, I would sleep on my side, so I'm still getting used to sleeping on my back. I don't sleep as well now that I'm on my back, but oh well. Anything to make my pain a little less. I usually have this problem in my right ear after a cold or sinus infection, and it takes a few weeks to get rid of the fluid. I find that OtC meds like Alleve D or Zyrtec D are good for keeping my nose dry (you want to be as dry as possible), and Mucinex is a good expectorant - it helps to bring the fluid out.

you might have to get tubes in your ear drum as a way to clear the fluid. otitis media and swimmer ear are two different things and both are treated differently... you may need to clarify a little bit more. what type of fluid do you have thin watery fluid or thick pussy fluid?
