Godparents have to themselves be christened, and it's preferred for them to be confirmed - since religion-wise, the whole point of a godparent is that it's someone who will make sure the child is brought up in accordance with the teachings of the church, it's a bit odd to pick someone who doesn't themself believe them!

Good question, I always thought you had to be, thats why sometimes in Soaps you see the godparent being christened just before. ... I am a Godparent to two, and i havent been christened, and was never asked if i had been .

hiya, even in the catholic church they do not need to both be christened. my daughters god parents, 1 was catholic and christened 1 wasnt, i spoke with the preist who said as long as 1 is christened its ok, the other non christened god ... do you mean does the godparent need to be christened then i dont think they do no...
