It sounds to me like there's some obstruction in the vent leading off of that drain. The gurgling sound may not have been noticeable before because the old trap had built-up crud in it that either muffled the sound or slowed the escape of air so that you didn't hear a gurgle.

About 2 weeks ago we started hearing a gurgling sound in the shower drain in the upstairs bathroom when we flushed the toilet. Now we are smelling a sewer smell (We have a septic tank). We never use the upstairs shower because it takes too long for the hot water to get up there.

This morning I noticed that the pipe inside the house that receives waste water from the washing machine was making a lot of gurgling sounds whenever I flushed the toilet or ran water in the shower (both of which are on the other side of the wall from the washing machine waste water pipe).

Sometimes, water in our house going down a drain gurgles in a drain other than the one being used. Examples are the kitchen sink gurgling in the adjacent bathroom upstairs; and the washing machine gurgling in the downstairs bathroom.
