The objectives of this study are to identify the trend of wildlife habitat isolation caused by the development activities in areas adjacent to the JNP, analyze the trend of habitat fragmentation by using selected fragmentation indices and discuss landscape ecological implications of habitat fragmentation around the JNP.

These findings show that although habitat isolation may reduce planthopper abundance, genetic diversity can be maintained provided there are nearby areas suitable for immigration. Combined with other data, these results have implications for the evolution of novel host-plant associations under the study conditions.

Habitat destruction [habitat isolation, habitat fragmentation] ... The likelihood of repopulation from other fragments may be reduced due to the habitat isolation (and therefore population isolation), a second consequence of habitat destruction (habitat fragmentation).

Ecological or Habitat Isolation ... The differences found in the habitats occupied by the two populations of the same species, may prevent interbreeding between them. Habitat isolation may not give any opportunity to meet and mate, to the isolated population..
