On top of that, I believe hallow is a transitive verb, so you would also need an object with it: he/she/it hallows what? ... It only makes sense to me if hallows is a plural noun, and deathly is an adjective modifying it.

There are a lot of possible meanings of Hallow as a noun, some more obscure than others. When the title first came out a whole lot of people went to their dictionaries and web searches, and yes, most of them found the same meanings that you gave.

however, the Oxford English Dictionary offers numerous definitions for “hallow” in different parts of speech (listed below and expanded on 12-29). I believe both the noun and verb definitions are pertinent to the story and what we know or strongly suspect will happen in Book 7, Harry Potter and ... 3. hallow- in Comb.
