Encyclopedia information on Haploid Cells ... A cell is haploid if it contains exactly half of a species’ typical full set of genetic material. Haploid cells are often used in sexual reproduction. In cells, ploidy defines the number of copies of a chromosome found within the cell.

Ploidy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ploidy is the number of complete sets of chromosomes in a biological cell. In humans, the somatic cells that compose the body are diploid (containing two complete sets of chromosomes, one set derived...

Haploid and Diploid cells for Kids - Plant reproduction ... Some creatures spend most of their time as haploid cells, and only become diploid for a short time before quickly going back to being haploid again. For example, moss is a plant that is usually haploid and only diploid for a short time.

My students pointed out a line in their text book that said all cells, EXCEPT SPERM, EGG AND LIVER CELLS are diploid. After having obtained a degree in biology and teaching it for 12 years, this is the first I've heard of liver cells not being diploid.

We present the findings of two studies addressing the regulation and biological role(s) of bipolar bud site selection in haploid cells. A transposon-tagged mutagenesis screen for mutants that exhibit hyper-haploid invasive growth yielded 53 mutants.
