I am watching the season finale of Army Wives. And ... more often than not, very little happens to soldiers that go AWOL, mostly because the army does not wish to put that much time, effort, or manpower into dragging people back. most soldiers that go AWOL and return are summarily discharged with no further incident.

The military no longer goes looking for persons who are AWOL. Instead, what happens is after the 31st day of AWOL, you are Dropped from roles (DFR). At that time you name is entered into a data system that allows local law enforcement around the nation to have access to your status of AWOL.

If you go AWOL you are a discrace, sorry to put it so boldly but anyone who cant hack it should have never joined. People should do some soul searching before they sign that contract. Get those dollar signs out your eyes because at the end of the day its not about the pay check...
