It's a mistake to assume, as does Professor Loomis and other authorities, that Chretien simply misinterpreted Bran's horn, corz, which also had miraculous abilities, as cors, or body, thereby connecting the dish and the body of Christ which accidently created the spiritually potent image of the Holy Grail.

Like the Holy Grail, the Marian Chalice was a vessel that was said to have held the blood of Christ and was believed to have been hidden in Britain. These similarities between the two stories suggest that they both had the same origin.
