Honey bees mix wax (from glands) with their own saliva to form a paste-like substance. Starting with the "ceiling" of the hive, they work their way down. When the wax hardens, the nest becomes very strong home for the bees.

Subject: How do bee's make there hive's? ... I've always been curious to how bee's make there hive's. I know they need it for survival and I understand that. It's just that if I know more about bee's mabe it will help me to not be so afraid of them. If you don't understand the qustion that's all right I think of another way...

Worker bees do different things depending on how old they are. They take care of the babies, make wax, build the honeycomb, clean up the hive, store pollen, make honey, guard the hive, and collect pollen or nectar.
