It's easy to install while you're replacing the vacuum canister. Note, that this particular problem will NOT prevent the secondaries from opening, it'll just cause a nasty bog-then-go when they do. ... Work the throttle by hand and you'll see how it happens. Secondary throttles don't open at all until about 1/2 throttle then...

i was checking out another forum, and there was a thread about the little check-ball in the vacuum secondary pod thing. Apparently holley started putting them in the 3310 in the mid 80's. anyhow, the guys on that forum basically said it was no good and could cause the secondaries not to work.

For the street I prefer vacuum secondaries, they offer a little better mileage ... You are confusing the various vacuums in your engine. Manifold vacuum at idle has a bearing in how your power brakes will work and the vacuum advance of your distributor but has nothing to do with the carburetor secondary opening diaphragm.

[Archive] Double Pumper VS Vac. secondary? Performance ... My personal experience, having tried both on my Chevelle, is that vacuum secondaries work better on a car with a torque converter that stalls at 2400 or less. Better streetability and better/more consistent 60' at the track.

How Vacuum Tubes Work; by Eric Barbour ... The "harder" the vacuum, the better the tube will work and the longer it will last. Making an extremely hard vacuum in a tube is a lengthy process, so most modern tubes compromise at a level of vacuum that is adequate for the tube's application.

For the street, vacuum secondaries work extremely well as does the metering plate. With an out of the box 3310, which by the way is 780 CFM rather than 750, the secondary metering plate is plenty close enough for most any application that is large enough for such a big carb.
