I lost my Mike a few weeks ago, I am still weepy, but I had him cremated and he is currently with me but, I am thinking of burying his ashes near a lake we used to go to. If your pet was small, I would go ahead and bury your pet in the backyard.

Some may choose a pet cemetery. Each of these options exists, and whatever you feel is right is what you should do. There is one caveat, which is that there are local laws and ordinances that may mean you cannot legally bury your pet in your backyard or another place.

First, I would never bury a pet in the backyard. However, assuming that I had, no, I would not disinter it when I moved. ... i probably would bury a pet in the backyard (if it died), but i wouldn't dig it back up. i bet anything my wife would though, when we moved.
