It sounds like what we called a "gleek" in jr. high. I think it is saliva that gets excreted from some gland under tongue. Saliva gets released in response to eating (or the thought) so it makes sense it would happen at that time.

I can gleek, and I used to suck at it, but I got better over time (yes, Pop one of those in your mouth and you can feel the rush of saliva in your salivary glands. Then do the form, and you should see/feel a spurt of yucky stuff. I've gotten to the point where I can just think about how sour those things are and do it.
